Cathy C. VanMarkenstein

Cathy C. VanMarkenstein, age 94, of Grand Rapids, passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2024. The daughter of Eliza and Jacoba (Kik) Struik, she was born in HerKingen, Netherlands and immigrated to the U.S. with her family when she was 20. She is survived by three sisters; several nieces, nephews, and extended family in the Netherlands and Michigan as well as numerous, dear and kind friends who touched her along life’s way. Cathy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gerrit; four sisters and one brother. Special thanks to the staff at the Oaks of Belmont for their thoughtful care of Cathy.  A funeral service honoring Cathy’s life will be held at 11am on Monday June 24, 2024 at Orchard Hill Church, 1465 Three Mile Rd. NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49544 with visitation one hour prior to the service at church.
