Charles Roger DeVries passed away on Monday September 1, 2025 at the age of 80. He was born in Camp Polk, Louisiana on July 10, 1945 to the late Roger and Jean DeVries. Chuck will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 50 years Barbara, daughter Jennifer (Chris) Ernest, son Jonathan (Misti) DeVries, grandchildren Cody, Finn, Scarlett and Gideon. He was preceded in death by his sister Lois MacDonald in addition to his parents.
Chuck was a graduate of Michigan State University and spent most of his career as a mechanical engineer at Rapistan-Dematic. He was a man of many talents, including woodworking, model trains, and he especially loved working on his hot rod. Chuck was known for his humble, but generous spirit and always had time to help a friend or neighbor in need. Instead of problems, he had solutions and was happy to share his knowledge and teach others. Chuck also enjoyed traveling and celebrated reaching his 50th state in 2024 with his family.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed.
The memorial service will be held at 2pm on Saturday September 6, 2025 at Keystone Community Church, 655 Spaulding Ave. SE, Ada, MI 49301 with visitation for family and friends one hour prior to the service.
