David Cornelius Theule passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at the age of 81. He was born in Grand Rapids on April 3, 1945 to the late Cornelius and Elizabeth Theule.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 60 years, Connie; son, David Theule II; daughters, Melissa Wilkins, Cynthia Lally and Amanda (Mark) Smith; grandchildren: Jessica (Jacob) Guarino, Daniel (Mallory) Smith, Catherine Lally, Josiah (Brianna) Smith, Alexander Wilkins, Levi (Kennedie) Smith, Kayla Wilkins, Isaiah Smith, Hannah Lally, Nathaniel (Elana) Smith, Rebekah (Liam) Conran, Rachael Smith, and Joshua Smith; 11 great-grandchildren; his sisters, Mary Hoffmeyer and Jane Theule.
Dave spent his life’s work as a pattern/gage maker (Ada Gage), and cattle farmer. He began Maple Hills Sugar Bush in 1970 and hosted ten 5K maple syrup runs. Many passions of his included running 22 marathons, ballroom dancing, fishing, canoeing, and traveling. Musically inclined, Dave played the piano, organ, ukulele and singing. Close to his heart and always by his side was the love of his life, Connie, and spending time with his family made his life complete. Dave lived life to the fullest.
Friends may visit with Dave’s family on Thursday, May 28, 2026, 10-11 AM at Ada Bible Church, 8899 Cascade Rd. SE, Ada, MI 49301 where the service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 AM with Pastor Jeff Manion officiating.
