David Lee Vanden Bosch passed away on August 29, 2025 at the age of 84. He was born on May 26, 1941 in Grand Rapids to the late George and Frances Vanden Bosch.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years Kyle; his children Tim (Tammy) Bailey, Steve (Terrie) Vanden Bosch, and Lori (Bob) Essex; his grandchildren Kiley (Gene) Lanier, Connor (Lucy) Matulaitis, Caden Matulaitis, and Katie Vanden Bosch; Step-grandchildren Aubrie (Chris) Allen, Josh Meunier, and Tyler Essex; his little best friend (great-grandchild) Hudson Lanier and another great grandchild on the way (baby Matulaitis); his sister Patty (Tom) Kaiser, his brother in-law Dave VanOostendrop, and his sister in-law Kathy Charon.
David was preceded in death by his father George and mother Frances, his mother and father in-law Bertha and Earl, his brother Jerry, and his sister Shirley.
Dave was a true outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He enjoyed running Two Dogs Deer Camp with his brother Jerry and planning his yearly fishing trips down at Lake Erie. When he wasn’t out hunting and fishing he loved spending time outside in his garden, raising his chickens, and lounging in the grass with his cats.
He loved spending time with his family, he was a great dad and an even greater papa. Lots of memories were made at his home around the pool and on yearly family trips to Florida or Cancun. Dave loved being the family repair man and would spend hours at his workbench in the basement or out in the barn fixing anything he could. He also loved experimenting in the kitchen and was always looking for new recipes to try.
Dave spent 36 years working at General Motors after serving 3 years in the U.S. Army. He was a proud veteran who loved his country. He was especially proud that two of his grandkids followed in his footsteps and joined the military.
Per Dave’s wishes, there will be no services. A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
