Denise grew up in Huntington Beach, CA and spent many of her younger years on the beaches with the sun in her wild, lovely hair. She grew up alongside an older sister, Lorraine, and a younger brother, Josh.
She was full of so much love for everyone around her, and she always made sure people knew how much she cared. Denise never forgot to send a Christmas card, a thank you note, or birthday snail mail.
Denise was married for many years to Tom, and together they raised Haley and Jackson in Sunnyvale, CA. Denise always brought oranges to soccer games, cheered during baseball and softball, made the best homemade tacos for dinners, and had a laugh that you couldn’t help but laugh along with. She had two beautiful grandsons, Roman (8) and Bennett (4), who loved spending time with their Decee (as they called her).
Everyone who knew Denise knew she loved her antiques and thrift shopping. Denise had eclectic taste and an eye for design. She had beautiful taste that everyone complimented her on, and she was proud of that. Denise even opened her own antique store in Grass Valley, CA and it was her pride and joy for several years.
Denise moved to the Midwest in 2021 and spent her last four years in Grand Rapids, MI in a beautiful riverfront home to be near her daughter and grandchildren. She met so many wonderful friends while living in Grand Rapids, and Denise was known for making an impression. All the neighbors knew Denise and her beloved terrier Gypsy from their regular neighborhood walks, and Denise was always one to stop and chat along the way.
We’ll all miss her beautiful smile, her cheerful outlook and her kind heart. Her family will always remember her tenacity and her strong will to live her life by her own rules.
We’ll always love you, Momma. You’re with us forever.
