Dennis Glen Spooner

Dennis Glen Spooner, 75, of North Ft. Myers, FL, passed away unexpectedly May 19, 2018 after a short illness. Born in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, Dennis grew up in East Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was a graduate of East Grand Rapids High School and Western Michigan University. Dennis was predeceased by his parents Russell and Lorraine Spooner. Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Judy; his children Kimberly Spooner Sventy (Brian) of Lumberton, NJ and Scott Thomas Spooner (Lucille) of Malta, Europe, and his five grandchildren who were the light, pride, and joy of his life: Peyton, Riley and Sydney Sventy of Lumberton, NJ and Miles and Elise Spooner of Malta. Also surviving are his brother Tom Spooner (Jan) of Charlevoix, MI, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Susan (Chuck) Cady of Traverse City, MI. Also nieces and nephews Jeffrey, Chad, Kelly Spooner Lombardi and Megan Spooner, Alison Cady and Sarah Cady Morris. Also survived by uncle Mort Spooner (Nelsine) and many cousins. Dennis was a lifetime member of the Grand Rapids Jaycees and was instrumental in bringing the first annual Charity Golf Classic to Grand Rapids. Dennis will be remembered for his love of family, his passion for golf, collecting Corvettes and creating beautiful stained-glass lamps. His quick wit and hearty loud laugh made lasting impressions on all who knew him.
