Dorotha Elaine Kortz-Pitcher, age 101, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, February 6, 2025. Born in Grand Rapids, MI on June 21, 1923, as a young housewife Dorotha raised four children and was an active member of the PTA and was involved at church, having taught Sunday school. After her husband died in 1973, she became the manager of the Old-World Museum in Breton Village. Before long, Dorotha remarried and moved to Kansas where she served as the Director of the Lawrence Art Museum. After returning to Michigan, she filled her time as president of the Women’s City Club from 1994-1995. Upon retiring, she and her husband moved to Leland. Dorotha enjoyed the beach, traveling and entertaining in her later years. She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Kortz, and by her second husband, Robert Pitcher; son, John Kortz; daughter, Darcy Krause; daughter-in-law, Diana Kortz. She is survived by her children, Steven Kortz and Kristy Kortz (Bill); grandchildren, Kenyon Krause Hess (Doug), Carrie Krause Stahl (Bruce), Megan Krause, John Krause (Ashley), Luke Kortz, Jack Kortz (Valerie), Julia Kortz, Riley Kortz, Harrison Kortz (Emily); 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. No funeral services will be held, and interment is to be determined. For a lasting memorial of Dorotha, contributions to the Humane Society of W. Michigan are suggested.
