Dorothy (Vlasblom) Mieras of Grand Rapids went to her Lord Friday March 1, 2019 at the age of 98. She was born June 14, 1920 in Grand Rapids to the late Richard and Jenny Vlasblom. She will be lovingly remembered by her sister-in-law Joan Matten of California, nephews Robert (Diane), Kenneth (Bonnie) and Ronald (Charyl) Vlasblom, Jack (Bonnie) and James (Nancy) Dykhouse, Douglas (Anne) Klein, Richard (Lorraine) Nagelkirk and her niece Carol Bond. She was preceded in death by her husband Adrian, her twin sister Louise (John) Visser, brother Richard (Kathryn) Vlasblom, sister Pearl (Eddie) Van Dussen and sister Jean (Claude) Romence.
Dorothy grew up in the Fulton Heights neighborhood of Grand Rapids and was a graduate of Grand Rapids Central High School. She was a long-time employee of the Grand Rapids Herald and the Grand Rapids Press, where she worked in advertising. Dorothy and her husband Adrian (Babe to his friends) enjoyed traveling to Winter Haven Florida each winter, and enjoyed boating, motorcycling and snowmobiles. The couple lived on Oaklawn Street on the northeast side of Grand Rapids for many years and were active members of Calvary Reformed Church.
The funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday March 8, 2019 at the Meeting House at Porter Hills. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 10:30. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel Hospice.
