Dorothy Ann Rieger, age 89, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 29, 2026. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, Gerald Rieger; their daughter, Cheryl; and her parents, Byron and Ada Teaker. Dorothy will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Susan (James) Snyder and Ruth (Steven) Evilsizor; her grandchildren, Heidi (Albert) Chavez, Andy (Morgan) VanDeusen, Ryan (Mykala) Snyder, Amanda Evilsizor, and Byron (Evita) Evilsizor; and her eight great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Evelyn, Leighton, Emerson, Brynlee, Aria, Tinzley, and Huxton.
Dorothy began her years as a devoted stay-at-home mother while also working for Avon. She later started a ceramics business in the family basement, which grew into the full-scale business D & J Ceramics in Kentwood. She was a longtime judge at the Ionia Free Fair and proudly entered flower exhibits that reflected her talent and love of flowers. Dorothy was also an active member of Cascade Christian Church always providing the flowers for the weekend services for the church and did this until 2019, when she moved to Story Point Senior Community in Rockford. Interment will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Ionia at a later date.
