Elden K Carlson

Elden Keith Carlson, age 79, of Grand Rapids passed away peacefully on Tuesday June 7, 2022.

Elden was born in Minneapolis, MN on October 30, 1942, the son of Eugene and Lillian Carlson.  He graduated from Minneapolis South High School.  He continued his education earning a BA and MBA in Education from Northern Michigan University.  He started his education career in the Upper Peninsula, where he met his future wife, Esther.

They began a family, raising them in Flushing, MI.  Elden continued his career as an administrator within the Genesee Intermediate School District.  He was very active in the community volunteering his time in the Boy Scouts of America and the Special Olympics.  Elden enjoyed genealogy, studying history, traveling and spending time with family, especially with his grandchildren at their cabin on Fife Lake.

Surviving Elden is his wife Esther Carlson.  Also surviving are two sons Keith and Cathy Carlson of Rockford and Kyle and Kim Carlson of Ada; five grandchildren Will, Blake, Maija, Ella and Adam Carlson; a niece and several nephews.

The family will receive friends at the Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Home from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday.  A visitation and burial ceremony will take place on Sunday June 19th in Negaunee, MI.  Internment Negaunee City Cemetery.
