Our hearts are broken with overwhelming sadness with the sudden passing of our beautiful Elle on Friday, May 14th. Elle was a positive outgoing delight to know and love. Her fearless attitude drove her to excel in the beauty business and her caring and love touched many in our community. A friend of Elle wrote : She provided hope for others by visiting spaces often deemed off limits to people who might be different than that standard West Michigan "fall in line" manner we have all watched crack and fall with time. Elle led in this area beautifully." Another friend wrote "I will miss your smile, laugh, goofiness, strength, and even your sass."
Elle graduated from Grand Rapids City High and received her cosmetology license from the Douglas J Aveda Institute. Elle and her mother MariJo owned Rubies Salon in East Hills, GR. She touched many lives and was a joy and a spot of sunshine in our lives, a friend wrote. "I am so thankful to have known her, laughed with her, experienced life moments with her, and as someone who works with the LGBTQ population, I am so thankful she knew the love of her family. I am thinking of you all. Anyone who knew Elle is a better person for it."
Elle's parents MariJo and Steve, brother Oliver Yared (Jennifer Gumbert), and niece Nora Jane Yared will cherish the happy years of having this beautiful soul in their lives.
There will be a celebration for Elle on Friday, May 28th from 4-8 PM at the Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 4291 Cascade Rd SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546.
Please consider a contribution to The Pride Center 343 Atlas Ave SE Grand Rapids, MI 49506.
