Frederick Sturim Obituary

Frederick “Rick” Paul Sturim, age 81, of Wyoming, MI passed away on Thursday afternoon, May 2, 2024. The son of Joseph and Esther (Rigrod) Sturim, he was born in Brooklyn, New York on October 21, 1942. Following high school, Rick furthered his education, receiving his B.A. in Mechanical Engineering which he used in the family business of automotive restoration. He then went on to serve in the U.S. Air Force where he attained the rank of Captain. An avid antique car collector and restorer, Rick was also an amateur gunsmith and enjoyed traveling. He served as a past commander of American Legion Post 459 and was a longtime member of Temple Emanuel. Rick was a hardworking and devoted family man and is lovingly survived by his wife of 58 years, Harriet; their children: James (Kari) Sturim, Steven (Melissa) Sturim, Becky Desmoni; grandchildren: Katherine, Jay, Nicholas, Joseph, and Michael; brother-in-law, Eugene Ottenheimer. A service to remember Rick will take place on Sunday, May 12, 2024, 3:30 PM at Temple Emanuel, 1715 E. Fulton St., Grand Rapids, MI 49503.
