Gaylord R. Terwilliger

The Rev. Gaylord R. Terwilliger of Grand Rapids, age 87, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 12, 2022.

Gaylord was born in Battle Creek, MI on October 2, 1934, the son of Silas and Fern (Martin) Terwilliger.  He graduated from Bellevue High School in 1952 and from the Grand Rapids School of the Bible and Music in 1955.  Over the years he pastored several churches, including Belmont Bible, Green Lake Calvary, Calvary Bible Church in Mt. Morris, MI, Grace Bible Church in Peoria, IL, and Faith Bible Church near Peoria, IL.  In his latter years he served as a hospital visitation pastor at Calvary Church in Grand Rapids.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Jean (Brocker) Terwilliger, their children Michael (Sally) Terwilliger of Grand Rapids, Steven (Nancy) Terwilliger of northern Michigan, Cindy (Randy) Parr of Mapleton, IL, 8 grand children and 4 great-grand children.  He is also survived by his sister Yvonne Herwich of Kansas, and preceded in death by his sister Lulabelle Sherbert, and brothers Wendell Terwilliger and Albert Elston Terwilliger. 

The family will receive friends at Calvary Church, 707 E. Beltline NE, Grand Rapids, from 10:00 to 11:00am on Monday, March 21.  The service celebrating his life will follow at 11:00am, with Josh Warren officiating.  The family is being served by Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
