Genevieve “Genny” Marie Bratschie, age 96, the life of the party, (aka the dancing queen), died peacefully on Christmas Day, 2025, when she quietly passed into the loving arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, surrounded by her family. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Laurence "Larry" Bratschie; and grandson, Max Bratschie. She is survived by her five children, Cynthia "Cyndi" Moll (Peter), Carol Lubs (Roger), David Bratschie (Mindy), Steve Bratschie (Kate), and Jeanie Bratschie, along with 17 beloved grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Genny is also survived by her brother, Karl Bublitz, and numerous nieces and nephews. Genny was born on March 22, 1929, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Walter and Mary Bublitz. She is a graduate of Monticello University and the University of Missouri and a member of Gamma Phi Beta. In 1950, she married Larry Bratschie (the best dancer on the dance floor), who moved them to Grand Rapids in 1960. Together, they enjoyed an enviable life, filled with international travel, boating, gorgeous lake houses, tennis, and golf. As a 50+ year member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, she served as a Deacon and a Bethel Bible School teacher, and as a board member of Porter Hills Retirement Community, while consistently attending BSF over the years. Genny also loved and generously supported music and the arts! She served her local community as a board member of the Grand Rapids Symphony, the Grand Rapids Art Museum, and the Grand Rapids Opera. Genny took great pride in owning, growing, and managing multiple real estate properties over 45-years. Known fondly as GGMA, she was very supportive of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in their many endeavors. Genny adored entertaining her family and a wide circle of friends over the years, especially during the Christmas holidays. She fittingly passed on her favorite day of the year, Christmas, and will be sorely missed by her family. A private internment and family burial are scheduled, with a future celebration of life for family and friends. Genny's family is grateful for the positive end-of-life support through Faith Hospice. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Faith Hospice or the Grand Rapids Symphony.
