With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Geoffrey Nicholas Laham, age 78, on Wednesday August 6, 2025, in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Geoff was born in Grand Rapids in 1946 to Wadiah and Mildred Laham. He attended Ottawa Hills High School and earned his BSEE degree from the University of Michigan. Go Blue! After Ann Arbor, Geoff worked in San Diego for Ryan Aircraft on the team designing systems for the Apollo lunar landing module, before returning to Grand Rapids where he ultimately retired as head of the electrical department at FTC&H.
Geoff married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Jeffrey, in 1968. Their two children, Kristen Wildes and Nicholas Laham, are each raising their families in the Grand Rapids area. Geoff is survived by his wife, Barbara; Kristen (Gregg) Wildes, and Nick (Sue) Laham; his four grandchildren, Jack, Cooper, Amelia, and Macklin; as well as his brother Larry (Mary) Laham of Grand Rapids, his sister Janet Lawson (David Kremzier) of Crystal River, Florida, and many nieces and nephews. Barb, Kristen, Nick, and his loving family were by Geoff's side when he passed.
Geoff's was a life exceptionally well lived. He had a close and loving family, a successful career, and more life-long friends than you can shake a snow shovel at. He was a loyal Michigan alum but also a proud parent of a "house divided", if ya know what I mean. Mostly, though, he just knew how to be happy, and to make others happy. His smile was unforgettable and his laugh was infectious. He will be dearly missed.
The family will receive visitors on Friday, August 8th, at the Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 4291 Cascade Rd. SE, Grand Rapids, from 5:00 to 6:45 pm, followed immediately by an informal celebration of Geoff's life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Parkinson's Foundation and Emmanuel Hospice.
