Gerald "Jerry" Nardin

Gerald “Jerry” Allen Nardin, age 67, of Comstock Park, MI passed away on Wednesday evening, February 12, 2025. Born on November 3, 1957, in Grand Rapids, MI to Roger Vance and Dorothy Mae (Radlinski) Nardin. He attended the local schools and went on to become an accomplished chef. Jerry was quite proud to be a chef by trade and loved to cook whether it be for the public, family, or friends. A lover of cats and the music of Aretha Franklin, in his free time one could always find him working around the house. He thoroughly enjoyed time spent with family and especially loved sharing time with his sisters, children and grandchildren. He loved tent camping with John and hosting parties at Christmas and summer bonfires in their backyard. Jerry often thought of the needs of others and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy and by his twin brother, Gary. Jerry is survived by John Nienhuis, his husband of 27 years; John’s children whom Jerry loved as his own, Aaron Nienhuis (Joy), Corrie Bakker (Mike), Mary Love, and Mark Nienhuis (Andrea); nine grandchildren; his sisters, Kathy Dlugoss (David), Linda Grooms (Mike), and Cindy Bessey (Jim); many nieces and nephews. Friends may visit with Jerry’s family on Friday, February 28, 2025, 5-8 PM at the Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 4291 Cascade Rd. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546. A memorial service to celebrate Jerry’s life will be held Saturday, March 1, 2025, 11:00 AM at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 47 Jefferson Ave. SE Grand Rapids, MI 49503. For those who wish, memorial contributions in Jerry’s memory may be directed to Camp Henry or to the Grand Rapids Ballet.
