Geraldine Louise Hausch

Geraldine Louise Hausch of Grand Rapids, MI passed away December 30, 2020 at age 82. Geraldine was born in Sault Ste. Marie, MI.  She earned her bachelor’s degree at Wayne State University and her master’s degree from Michigan State University to pursue her passion for teaching.  Geraldine’s life was filled with her commitment to her Catholic faith, loving her family, and turning friends into family. She was known to many of our friends as “Grandma”. Her happiness, song, and love continues to fill the hearts of her children, Duane and Laura Hausch, Rick and Dawn Cooper, Kevin and Laura Hausch; her grandchildren, Duane and Rachel Hausch, Ricole and Pedro Rios, Megan and Austin Cavender, Shelby Cooper and Chris Nelson, Hillary and Connor Klopcic, Kylie Hausch; great-grandchildren, Julian and Collins. She will be deeply missed by her sister-in-law, Patricia LaVigne, brother-in-law, Joseph Daniels, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many special friends.  Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Florence (Bliss) LaVigne, brother, Jerome LaVigne, former husband, David Hausch, and sister-in-law, Marilyn Daniels.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff and caregivers at the Village of Heather Hills and Provision Living for their warmth, love, and commitment to Mom’s care over the last few years.  We would also like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of 7 North at Spectrum Butterworth who provided wonderful care and compassion for Mom and the family during the final days of her life.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church on Friday, July 30, 2021 at 11:00 am, with a visitation one hour prior to Mass from 10:00 am to 11:00am.  A luncheon and celebration of life will follow at Watermark Country Club, 5500 Cascade Rd. SE, Grand Rapids.   As you know Mom always put her family first. Our family asks that in lieu of flowers or donations it would be mom’s request that you honor her by doing something special with your family in her name.
