Grant Littler Obituary

Grant William Littler passed away on Monday, December 29, 2025 after 5 years with brain cancer. He lived his final moments as he lived his life: surrounded by many people who loved him, with countless more far and wide keeping him in their thoughts.

Born in St. Joseph, MI and moving to Grand Rapids shortly after, Grant graduated from Forest Hills Northern High School and the University of Michigan. After college, he moved to Kalamazoo, which he would call home the rest of his life. An appreciator of creating, connecting, spreading joy and celebrating life, he was fortunate at a young age to find the perfect outlet for this in his musical pursuits. Never one to seek out the spotlight, it would frequently find him all the same, especially when he played music. He wrote and performed with a variety of acts and musicians over the years–too many to list–including the Go Rounds and under the moniker Gitis Baggs.

Grant always left the hearts he touched in better shape than he found them. His smile and laugh were unmistakably and uniquely him; he was generous to share both, and anyone on the receiving end would know his radiant spirit. He built a beautiful, loving, and ever-growing network of people through every station of his life. Occasionally, some of these pockets would cross, and with a sparkle in their eyes, get to glow about him. He will be eternally and extraordinarily missed by everyone. Even though every song must end, the music will never stop.

“And if you want philosophy, know yourself. That’s all you need.” – Gitis Baggs

Grant joins his grandparents Walter and Magdalena Kaiser and Ned and Louise Littler, and his nephew Jackson.

He is survived by his parents Vera and Alwin; siblings Colin (Susan), Leslie (Dustin), Eric (Alice) and Noelle (KJ); and nieces and nephews Colin, Zoe, Emma, Audrey, Dylan, Henry, Lucy, and Maizy.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Corewell Hospice.

A private family service will be held on December 31st.
