Greg Williamson

GREGORY PAUL WILLIAMSON, JD, age 42 of Ada, Michigan, was taken from all who loved him far too soon, while at work, on Friday, February 21, 2020. Greg was born on August 12, 1977 in Grand Rapids, to Paul and Kathy Williamson. 

He attended East Grand Rapids Schools. Greg graduated from the University of Dayton and was a proud Flyer! His majors included marketing and finance, and he studied abroad in Finland. He went on to pursue his law degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School. 

Greg and his loving wife, Allison, who he affectionately called “Al Gal,” enjoyed celebrating their 11th anniversary the night before he passed away. Their years together were filled with waterfront memories - from getting engaged in Thailand on the beach, to getting married seaside in The Bahamas, to living at a cottage on Lake Michigan. Allison was the love of Greg’s life and the two of them were quite a team. 

Greg was a hard working and dedicated man. He was the co-owner of Greenridge Property Management, a real estate broker, and an attorney. He served as the Chairperson of the Greater Regional Alliance of Realtors Grievance Committee and had a passion for mentoring young professionals. 

Greg’s favorite pastimes included time with family, golf, hockey, lacrosse, football, and volleyball. He was an avid SCUBA diver and known for his frequent polar plunges in Lake Michigan. Greg had a passion for travel and visited over 60 countries. Of his many accomplishments, he gained the most satisfaction from coaching his sons and their teammates in many youth sports, including basketball, football, soccer, t-ball, and lacrosse. 

Greg was an exceptional father to his two sons. They admired him like no other and are determined to carry on his positivity and zest for life. He read aloud to them before going to bed each night and played with them daily. Greg had a huge personality and lit up a room with his presence. He had a great attitude and a solution to any problem. He was hilarious, friendly, witty, competitive, and generous. 

Preceded in death by his grandfather, Everett King, and his father-in-law, Tom Beckering. Survived and loved by his dear mother, Kathy Williamson, of East Grand Rapids, his father, Paul (Barbara) Williamson, of Allegan, his sisters, Jennifer (Jack) Conway of Grand Rapids and Amy Williamson (Ben McManaman ) of Indianapolis, his mother-in-law, Debbie Kroes, siblings-in-law, Ty (Kristine) Beckering, Barbie (Tim) Schowalter, and Chris (Ashley) Beckering, all of Grand Rapids. Fondly remembered by many nephews and nieces: Clay and Luke Conway, Brooke, Sam and Janie Schowalter, Taylor, Abigail, Benjamin, Christian, and Isabella, Topher, Maverick, Tucker, Oliver, and Hope Beckering. He will be deeply missed by his wife Allison, sons, Gregory (10), and Drew (7), and faithful tripod pup, Gibson. 

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 26 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Service 4291 Cascade Road SE, Grand Rapids MI 49546 . We will honor Greg’s life with services on Thursday, February 27 at 4:00 pm at Ada Bible Church - Knapp Street Campus 3869 Knapp St NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49525 and presided over by Jeff Manion.
