Harry Kutten Obituary

Harry S. Kutten, age 97, of East Grand Rapids, MI died on Wednesday, February 8, 2023, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.  He is survived by his children: Melinda Kutten, Rachel (Richard) Berlin, his two stepdaughters Sara Saenz and Alicia Curtiss, as well as his grandchildren, Sara’s son Anthony L. Sprague and Alicia’s children: Lauren and her husband Maxwell, Nichole and her fiancé Ryan, Carlee, Christian, and Isabelle.  He was preceded in death by his wife Janette, his parents Max and Dora Kutten, his brother Charlie Kutten, his sister Lilly (Gus) Chait.  Harry served in the US Navy, stationed in the South Pacific during WWII. He was an accomplished artist and instructor and he enjoyed sharing his love of art. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He had a deep appreciation for life and all of it’s wonders.

A service to celebrate his life will be held on March 26, 2023, 2:30pm, at the East Grand Rapids Community Center, 750 Lakeside Drive SE, EGR, MI 49506.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Grand Rapids Art Museum, Art for Life Program.
