Hollie J (Fitz) Blanchard

Hollie Jeanne Blanchard, age 92, passed away in Grand Rapids, Michigan on Tuesday, January 28, 2025. Hollie was born on May 13, 1932 to Hollis and Marie (Poyet) Fitz in Westminster, California.

Hollie was a caretaker for much of her life, getting her degree in Nursing, caring for her disabled husband (polio), raising three children, and helping raise her grandchildren. She was always curious, loved to listen to her children's and grandchildren's stories, and was practical in her advice. As a lifetime learner, Hollie kept her nursing license active into her 70’s and was always taking classes; specifically guitar, French, and computer languages. Fiercely independent, Hollie loved to drive across the U.S. in her small RV, exploring new places and meeting new and interesting people.

Hollie is survived by two siblings, Stephen (Pat) Fitz and Yvonne (Fred) Berra; her three children, Teri (Paul) Hedges, Jake (Michelle) Blanchard, and Chris (Carla) Blanchard; grandchildren, Aaron (Zena), Alden, Robyn, Davis, Wil, and Meagan; great-grandchildren, Milo and Rory, and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister.
