Hugh Naylor Obituary

Hugh Edward Naylor of Jackson, MI passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2021. He was born on April 24, 1950 to Stanton and Dorothy Naylor. Hugh was preceded in death by his wife Mary (Callahan) Naylor, his sister Sally Naylor, and his parents. He is survived by his children Nathan (Karissa) Naylor, Adrienne (Brad Behnke), and Sarah (Gabe Ensenat), and five grandchildren Reese, Brady, Brycen, Claire, and Everett. Hugh served in the Air Defense Artillery of the Army (1970-1972). After leaving the Army, he became an electrical engineer. He was part of the team that developed the engine for the M60- High mobility multipurpose wheeled vehicle (tank). Hugh designed the memory board and controller for “project A2.5 Nuclear Imager,” now referred to as an MRI. He also helped design the circuit board for the Vertical take-off jet fighter. Outside of programming, Hugh worked on projects with a pharmaceutical company developing a drug to cure hepatitis B. In 2013, Hugh retired from Jacobs Engineering. Hugh loved his work, his family, but above all things, he loved playing his Gibson Guitar with his dog, Daisy, close to his feet.   

A memorial service will be held on Saturday October 9, 2021 at 12:00; Harmony Baptist Church, 6475 Ann Arbor Rd, Jackson, MI with his nephew, Reverend James Sirks, officiating. Inurnment will take place at Roseland Cemetery at a later date.
