Janet Lee Kranz

Janet Lee Kranz, 77, passed away peacefully on the morning of October 23, 2025.

Born on November 19, 1947 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Janet was the beloved daughter of Elnora Louise and Herbert Taft Kranz (both deceased), sister of Carlton Kranz (deceased), aunt of Kay Kranz. She was the loving mother of Sara Narezo.

A proud graduate of Michigan State University, Janet continued her education at Harvard University and Northwestern University, pursuing her passions with curiosity and drive. She built a full and accomplished career in marketing and consulting and as a freelance writer. Her talent, creativity, and leadership earned her numerous awards and accolades throughout her professional life.

She was an extraordinary woman - full of humor, generosity, and determination. Her laughter could light up any room, and her kindness touched everyone she met. She found joy in helping others, forming deep and lasting friendships along the way.

A lifelong love of horses, Phantom (her horse that survives her at the impressive age of 34) had a special place in her heart, that reflected her own spirited nature - strong, graceful, and free. Her fierce determination allowed her to face life’s challenges with courage and to accomplish anything she set her mind to.

Above all, she was a devoted mother, whose love and guidance shaped every part of her daughter’s life. Her strength, compassion, and unwavering support will remain with her daughter.

She will be dearly missed by her daughter, Sara, her many friends, and family and all that were lucky enough to know her. Her love, laughter, and spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched.

A visitation for family and friends will take place on Wednesday October 29, from 1 - 3 and 5 - 7 pm at Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 4291 Cascade Rd. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546.
