Janet Marie Rasmussen passed into eternity June 3, 2022, with her two sons, Spencer and Scott by her side.
She is survived by her sons, Scott (Kate) and Spencer (Jennifer), eight grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and her two loving sisters, Margie (Brian) Nyman, and Barbara (Raul) Jimenez. She is preceded in death by her husband, Doug, and her parents, Lloyd and Shirley Harmon.
Jan loved her family “a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck”, which she was sure to remind each one of us of every time we were with her.
In recent days, we came across a note Jan wrote in the margin of her Bible next to Philippians 1:20, that said "this is my goal for 1983". The verse was underlined, of course. It states "I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death.”
We observed Jan’s goal realized every day in her life. Especially throughout the last three years as she courageously and joyfully faced Alzheimer’s, unwavering in courage, joy and hope in every moment.
A favorite verse for Jan was Philippians 2:3, “Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard others as more important than yourself.” Jan selflessly invested in those she loved and those she met throughout her journey. Her joy was found in making someone feel special.
In lieu of a memorial service, we would love you to honor Jan by taking an opportunity to go out of your way to make someone feel special, important, and loved today. Or better yet, join our family in extending kindness towards others each time you remember her.
