Jeanne Kohn

Jeanne E. Kohn, age 81, of Cascade, was called home to be with her Lord on Monday January 24, 2022. Born January 26, 1940 to George and Alma Tomlinson, she grew up in the Detroit area, surrounded by cousins. Weekends and summers were filled with adventures on Lake Erie or Up North. She attended Michigan State University where she joined Delta Delta Delta sorority, and met her husband Richard (Dick.) They married after her graduation in 1962, and moved to East Grand Rapids. There, she taught first grade at West Leonard Elementary School and was an active member of the Junior League. A wonderful group of friends formed, and shared pot-luck dinners and trips abroad for decades. The couple were blessed with three children, with whom they shared wonderful summers Up North, even as they moved to the suburbs of Chicago and Philadelphia before retiring back to build their dream home in Cascade, Michigan.

Along the way, she planted magnificent gardens, volunteered at the kids' schools, sports, band, and other organizations in support of literacy in particular. An avid reader, Jeanne was determined to share that passion with the world.  Retirement brought new freedom to travel, which the couple did extensively, both stateside and abroad, both on their own and to visit their children and grandchildren. Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, and by her beloved husband of 50 years.  She is survived by three children, Karen (Mike) Anderson, R. Paul Jr., Kristen Albinson, and three grandchildren, Kira, Cora, and David Albinson. 

A memorial service will be held Saturday at 4pm at the Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Home. The family will greet friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday from 2 to 4pm.  Memorials may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church, 3639 S. M-65, Glennie, MI 48737.
