Jeaune Allard Obituary

Jeaune Marie Allard, age 72, of East Grand Rapids, MI died peacefully on May 17 after complications stemming from cancer and a series of recent strokes.  She was born in Detroit and raised in Grosse Pointe Park, one of nine children to Marvin and Dorothy Bloink. Jeaune attended Grosse Pointe High School where she met her surviving, beloved husband of 54 years, Timothy Allard.

Jeaune was pre-deceased by her parents and a brother, Gery Bloink. Surviving family include her children: Jason (Angela) Allard, Matthew (Sara) Allard, and Monica (Robert) Kimball, and seven wonderful grandchildren: Brandon, Spencer, Isabel, Charlie, Katherine, Walter and Charles. Additionally, Jeaune is survived by brothers Michael (Judy), Robert (Penny), twin brother, John, and Jeffrey (Shawn), plus sisters Donna Patterson, Veronica Jackson, and Pamela Bloink.

Jeaune was a real go getter, goal-oriented, and a loving wife, mom and grandmother.  She traveled the world with her girlfriends, saving some of her treasured travels for husband Tim as her companion. A favorite were annual trips to Aruba with Tim, her sister, Donna Patterson, and Donna’s now-deceased husband, Floyd. What great memories!

Professionally, Jeaune’s passion was special education for medically fragile children, age birth to six years, in Grand Rapids Public School‘s Ken-O-Sha program. Jeaune earned two collegiate master’s degrees in the field and was employed at GRPS for 34 years, the last ten of which were as principal at the Campus Early Childhood Center.

Other keen interests of Jeaune’s over the years included boating the Great Lakes and friends met along the way, biking, hiking and cross country skiing with Tim, three book clubs, the Women’s City Club, the Lion’s Club, but mostly, doting on her loving grandchildren. She never missed an occasion where she would provide presents, treats and the like, whether it be for traditional holidays, birthdays, or “care” packages to camps and colleges as the grandchildren grew older.

Jeaune was one to plan most all of our couple vacations that, many a time, included the grandkids on awesome trips, near and far. Attending their games and recitals were her favorite pastime. Jeaune was the epitome of the matron in our extended family, going to extended lengths to nurture family togetherness.  Her home-cooked holiday dinners she and Tim routinely hosted are another example, complete with Jeaune’s best-ever pies à la mode.

Jeaune was blessed with a wide array of friends from the 48 years of life and living in Grand Rapids. The family thanks them all for their loving and compassionate support throughout Jeaune’s illness. We are grateful for the abundant cards and well wishes, which have lifted our spirits. Particularly noteworthy are the countless meals provided to family throughout this three-month ordeal, and the visits and other assistance in our time of greatest need.
