Jill Woller-Sullivan

Jill Woller-Sullivan, age 72, of Ada passed away on Tuesday, November 26th, 2024.

Jill was born in Rhode Island on June 17th, 1952 to Jack and Phyllis (Carson) Woller. Following high school in East Grand Rapids (1970), she attended Central Michigan University and graduated with a BA (1974) and MA (1978).

Jill had a passion for being truly present in her life, especially after being diagnosed with and surviving ovarian cancer, and found joy and reflection in the slow moments of sunrise and sunset. She loved to be outside in nature; being, sitting, and hiking. Since retiring in 2016, she included frequent travel with both friends and family to her hobbies. A devoted animal lover, Jill had Labrador Retrievers throughout her lifetime, visited animal sanctuaries, and enjoyed birding while being outdoors.

Jill worked as a Career Counselor for Grand Valley State University. Most recently, she served as a counselor, academic advisor, and faculty at GRCC for over 20 years helping students find their career direction and academic success. She changed lives through her impactful relationships with her students.

An avid and early supporter of women’s rights, Jill felt strongly about donating her money and time, as well as being an advocate for underserved communities. Organizations she supported include Kid’s Food Basket, Meals on Wheels, local LPGA tour events, and an animal sanctuary in Utah.

Preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Phyllis Woller. Jill is survived by her daughters, Molly Sullivan (Filip), Jennifer Thayer (Joe); granddaughters, Hailey and Avery Thayer; former spouse, Bill Sullivan; Siblings, Jack Woller (Cindy), Tim Woller (Denise), KC Woller (Trish), Amy Becker (Reed); and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, December 4th, 2024 at Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Home. The family will greet relatives and friends Tuesday, December 3rd, at the funeral home, from 4-6 PM.
