John Chance Vincent, “Vinnie”, age 52, of Alto, Michigan passed away of heart complications on Sunday, December 15, 2024, at his home.
Vinnie was born in Torrance, CA on January 3, 1972, to Sybil Ann (Piersma) and Jarrett Hathaway Vincent. He graduated from Grand Haven High School in 1990, earned his Bachelor of Arts from Michigan State University in 1994, and has been a proud Spartan his entire life. Vinnie found the love of his life at a mutual friend’s get together. Vinnie and Sarah were engaged in 1998 and were married on May 15, 1999, in Grand Haven, Michigan. In the Spring of 2000, they moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan and on May 17, 2002, they welcomed their son, Chance Jack into their lives. On June 1, 2005, their daughter Payton Cecilia was born. For the last 15 years, Vinnie has been a plant manager for Dematic.
Vinnie loved Spartan and Lion’s football, live music, bonfires, and bourbon. He enjoyed traveling with Sarah, friends and family. Chance, Payton and Sarah were the true joys of his life.
Vinnie is survived by his wife, Sarah (Roberts), his son, Chance, and daughter, Payton; his twin sister, Jill Vincent (Mike Antcliffe) and several cousins; his in-laws, Gene and Jill (Voshel) Roberts; sisters-in-law, Erin Porath (Kevin) and Meghan Collier (Jacob); nephew, Jack Porath and niece, Elizabeth Collier.
Vinnie’s family will greet friends on Thursday, December 19, 2024, 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 4291 Cascade Rd. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49456 and on Friday, December 20, 2024, 5-8 PM at the Watermark Country Club, 5500 Cascade Rd. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49546 where a Celebration of Vinnie's life will be held at 6:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be designated to a college fund for Vinnie's children, payable to: Michigan Education Savings Program, c/o Sarah Vincent, 5251 Whitneyville Ave. SE Alto, MI 49302.
