Judith Hilger Obituary

Judith Ann Hilger, lovingly known as Judy, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2025, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, at the age of 74.

Judy was born on July 16, 1950, in Alpena, Michigan, to the late Raymond Levi Kinsinger and Patricia Ann Simmons. She spent her early years in Lachine, MI, before relocating with her family to Alpena. Judy dedicated her life to caring for others, pursuing a long and meaningful career as a Registered Nurse, most notably serving as a travel hospice nurse. Her deep compassion and tireless commitment to her patients earned her the prestigious Nightingale Award during her nursing career.

Judy was the heart of her family—selfless, kind, and filled with love. She found her greatest joy in being surrounded by her children and grandchildren, always making each one feel uniquely special and deeply loved.

She is survived by her three children: Brandi (Anthony Miecznikowski), Aaron, and Adam (Deidre); and by her seven cherished grandchildren: Grace, Gavin, Lily, Kylie, Elise, Ava, and Vail. She is also survived by her brother Matthew Kinsinger (Denise), nieces Kelly and Lisa; sister Theresa, niece Corrina, and nephew Eric, niece Reanne, and nephew Thomas.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Patricia, and her brothers Ray and Gene.

Her dedication to her family and her life of service to others will be remembered always. Judy’s legacy of love, strength, and generosity lives on through those she held dear.

She will be cremated at Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Grand Rapids, MI. The family will host a celebration luncheon in her honor, with details to be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages acts of kindness in Judy’s memory—something she practiced every day of her life.
