Kara Duvall Rogers passed away peacefully November 29, 2020 at her home, David’s House Ministries. She was 36.
Kara was blessed with a large community of family, friends, caregivers and coaches with whom she often shared her wonderful smile and contagious laugh. She not only cared about everyone she met, she never failed to ask about one’s family and work. Her inquisitiveness was matched by her great memory and amazed many by her recall of small details.
Kara had many disabilities from her cerebral palsy many of which she overcame by her determination and will to succeed. She also had no fear— from sledding, to venturing on a zip-line to the many surgeries and procedures she endured and she always knew she had her family cheering her on.
Kara graduated from Forest Hills High School and took classes in social work at Grand Valley State University. Her interest in helping others was life long.
Kara purely enjoyed Indian Trails Camp. There she could swim, canoe, play games, sing, and make friends all with the help of some very exceptional counselors. Kara also was a longtime member of the Grand Rapids Eagles Sports Team. She found encouragement, challenges and many friends. She also had the thrill of competing and success in participating in the Michigan Victory Games in Lansing, MI.
She was baptized at the Cavalry Church in Grand Rapids and found comfort in her church community which is associated with David’s House Ministries.
David’s House Ministries was her home for many years and will be dearly missed by her family of residents and caregivers. The care and loving kindness she received there was from the heart.
Kara will be greatly missed by her mother and step-father Gail and Darrell Bowers, her step-mother Karen Rogers, her brothers and sister Peter, Dan, and Madison Rogers, grandmother Alberta Rogers, many aunts, uncles, cousins and nieces. Kara so greatly missed her father who passed away in 2016.
