Katherine Senagore

Katherine Senagore, age 98, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, August 27, 2025. Katherine was preceded in death by her parents, Giacomo DelPup and Theresa (Tome) DelPup; her stepmother, Marianna DelPup; brother, Armen DelPup; and by her loving husband, Antonio Senagore. She will be remembered by her son and daughter, Anthony Senagore (Patricia) of Holland, MI, JoAnn DeWitt (Gregg) of Naples, FL; her grandchildren, Antonio Senagore (Alexa) of Northbrook, IL, Christina McWilliams (Sean) of Baltimore, MD, Katherine DeWitt of Evanston, IL, Michelle Sugiyama (Joseph), of Evanston, IL; great-grandchildren, Zoe and Thomas Senagore, Madeleine McWilliams, Florence Sugiyama; her sister, Anna DelPup of Grand Rapids, MI; nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Katherine, or Kathleen as she was known by friends and family, was born in Cordenons, Italy on September 9,1926. She emigrated to the United States with her parents and younger brother and sister in 1937. The family settled in the Detroit area and as the oldest, Katherine helped her siblings adjust to life in their new home and country. Despite knowing little English when she arrived in the U.S., Katherine went on to graduate on time from Pershing High School in 1943 and began work as a bookkeeper for the Koenig Corporation. She met and married Antonio Senagore on February 8, 1958, and with the arrival of her children, Katherine was actively involved in their activities, education, and home life. She was an avid reader and participated in a number of reading clubs with friends. She enjoyed the arts and was a strong supporter of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. In retirement, Katherine and Antonio moved to Grand Rapids, MI to be close to their children and grandchildren. She was an excellent cook and baker and spent much of her time passing those skills on to her grandchildren. She will be missed and remembered by many, especially her sister, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The Mass of Christian burial for Katherine will be celebrated at Saint Roberts of Newminster Parish, 6477 Ada Dr. SE, Ada, MI 49301, 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 2, 2025. Visitation will take place from 10-11 AM prior to the funeral Mass at church. In honor of Katherine and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Grand Rapids Youth Symphony and Classical Orchestra, 300 Ottawa Ave. NW Suite 100, Grand Rapids, MI 49503.
