On December 10, 1966, God blessed us with Kevin David Mitchell and at the age of 57, on February 5, 2024, Kevin returned to the Lord. Kevin was a lifelong resident of Grand Rapids, having attended Central High School, Grand Rapids Junior College, and Western Michigan University. Kevin was active at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in its youth group and adult choir. He worked with computers his entire career and was known as “an expert in his field.”
Kevin loved adventure and traveled the world to places such as Bali, Indonesia, Morocco, Egypt, India, and Japan. The linguist in the family, Kevin had a knowledge of Arabic and was proficient in Japanese.
Kevin leaves his father and mother, Fr. Elias and Marion Mitchell; his brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Jackie Mitchell; two uncles, Dn. Michael (Diana) Pirich and John (Mary Beth) Pirich; many cousins including Stephanie (Greg) Miller, Christopher (Catherine) Pirich, Karen (Stephen) Currie, and Alexandra (Lonnie) Busque; and special, lifelong friends, Dennis Raterink and Paul Herdegen. Kevin’s family extends special thanks to Corewell Health-Butterworth ICU and Blodgett Specialty Hospital for their exceptional care of Kevin.
