Kristen L (Cook) Herweyer

Kristen Lynne Herweyer, age 47, of Rockford, Michigan, joined her parents (Tom & Marcia Cook) in heaven peacefully Tuesday morning, June 11, 2024, surrounded by family after battling long running health issues. 

She was a 1995 graduate of Grand Rapids Christian High and received her degree with a focus on marketing from Davenport University.  In 2012 she married Michael Herweyer and together they had two beautiful girls: Abigail and Grace. Kristen had a zest for life and inherited her mother’s love of spontaneity and dedication to family. Kristen’s passion in the kitchen was legendary and her family and friends always looked forward to the culinary delights she created (in volume!) for any and every occasion. She loved the outdoors, joining Mike on many adventures, either for work in Colorado for a few years, or mini fishing trips on the pontoon boat. Her children stayed busy all summer with the many activities she planned for them, Camp Roger, soccer and more. She was an active volunteer at her girls’ school, her church and the Acorn Shop. Mike and Kristen welcomed their first daughter, Abigail, to the world in 2013 and Grace in 2014. A dedicated mother, Kristen’s big heart, generous personality and warm smile brightened everyone’s day. 

Kristen is survived by her husband Michael Herweyer, daughters Abigail & Grace Herweyer, her brother Ryan (Jessica) Cook and numerous relatives and friends.  

The family will receive friends and family from 3:30PM – 6:00PM, Wednesday, June 19th at the Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 4291 Cascade Rd SE, Grand Rapids, MI  49546 and prior to the funeral service from 10:00AM- 11:00AM at City Church Rockford.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM, Thursday, June 20th, at City Church Rockford, 3233 10 Mile Rd NE, Rockford, MI  49341, with lunch following.
