Lance Lyle Caston, age 82, of Grand Rapids passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 28, 2021.
Lance was born in Grand Rapids, MI on January 4, 1939 the son of Lyle and Virginia (Braden) Caston. He graduated from East Grand Rapids High School class of 1957. He continued his education at Michigan State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering in 1961. Shortly after graduating, Lance began his 25-year career at GM Fisher Body Plant in Grand Rapids where he later retired.
Lance was an avid sailor at the Grand Rapids Yacht Club where he competed on Reeds Lake for many years. He enjoyed spending time with his family downhill skiing in the winter and hosting pool parties in the summer. He was an elementary baseball coach and a skilled handyman.
On February 10, 1961 he was married to Letitia “Sue” Whately who preceded him in death in 2017. Surviving are his children Scott and Cori (Odren) Caston, Todd McCarthy and Letitia Caston, and grandchildren Justin and Adrianne Bustraan, and Nickolas Rodriguez.
The family will receive friends at the Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Home from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday November 2. Interment will be at Rosedale Memorial Park.
