Margie S. Bach

Margie Hermann Bach of Cascade Township, age 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family.  Margie was born in Ludington Michigan to Mary and Raymond Hermann.  Growing up, Margie loved playing outside, often with her cousins Dave and Tom Hall.  They could be found running through the orchards or exploring the farm.  Margie would always have her loving dog by her side.

Margie attended Leelanau School in Glen Arbor, Mi where she was an active member of the school choir and a record holding participant of the ski team.

Margie and Jens, her husband of 56 years, moved to Santa Rosa Beach, FL after Jens retired in 1998. While in Florida Margie spent time playing golf, walking the beautiful white sand beaches, and singing in the church choir.  But her true passion was gardening.  She would be found trimming flowers, weeding, or watering her beautiful gardens.  Margie was generous in sharing her gardening gift and loved taking care of the gardens at her church.   Margie was also generous in her support of local charities, particularly The Path of Grace.  The Path of Grace is a nonprofit, long term program for woman recovering from addictions.  Margie had a special connection with the Path of Grace and was proud that through her support they were able to buy a panel truck that they immediately name “the Margie”. 

Margie is proceeded in death by her mother Mary Evelyn, her father Raymond.  Margie is survived by her children Mary VanderVeen (Scott), Sarah Peshek (Chris), Carole Rehmet (Chris), David Bach (Cheryl); grandchildren Drew VanderVeen (Joey), Kyle VanderVeen (Tessa), Steve VanderVeen (Erin), Jake VanderVeen (Brooke), Maria VanderVeen, Katie Peshek, RJ Peshek, Jackson Rehmet (Sarah), Joe Rehmet, her 10 great grandchildren and extended family Marlyn Pierce (Travis), Rossy Hughes (Ross), and Liliana Merida.

The Bach family would like to express a special thanks to Cascade Trails and Faith Hospice for walking with them through this journey. Services will be held Saturday, March 15th at Cascade Christian Church Chapel, 2829 Thornapple River Dr, SE, Grand Rapids, MI. beginning with a family visitation at 2:00 pm, followed by a celebration of life at 3:00 pm, concluding with a reception following the celebration.
