Marilyn M. Lundquist

Marilyn Marie (Meeth) Lundquist, age 91, of East Grand Rapids (EGR), MI passed away on July 12, 2023.  Marilyn graduated from Ottawa Hills High School, attended Muskingum College (New Concord, OH) and then graduated from Michigan State University (MSU) in 1954 with a B.A. in Education. She taught junior high school in La Mesa, CA and Evanston, IL.  In 1961 she moved back to Grand Rapids with her husband, Dr. William C. Lundquist, and her family as he took over a periodontal practice here. Marilyn served her community by giving countless hours of volunteer service to state and local dental auxiliary organizations, Mayflower Congregational Church, EGR parent/teacher organizations, EGR city/school election campaigns, EGR Aquatic Club (Waves) 8 years chairperson, EGR Recreation Commission 7 years chairperson, Women’s City Club president 2007-2009, Sweet House Foundation at the Women’s City Club president 2011-2015.  She assisted her husband in his dental office for 19 years.

She was preceded in death by her father Arie A. Meeth, mother Irene M. Meeth, stepmother Florence D. Meeth, sister Gloria (Meeth) Kress, twin brother Robert Meeth.  She is survived by her husband of 68 years Dr. William C. Lundquist; three children, Janet Korn, Robert (Nancy) Lundquist, and Peter (Debbie) Lundquist; and seven grandchildren, Jenny Gray, William Korn, Kelly (Fred) Millett, Robert (Taylor) Lundquist, Michael Lundquist, Molly (Jordan) Norville, and Emily Lundquist; and several nephews, nieces, and cousins.  

Memorial service will be held at a future date. Cremation has taken place.  Interment is at Rest Lawn Memorial Park.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Sweet House Foundation at the Sweet House 254 East Fulton 49503, EGR Schools Foundation 2915 Hall St. 49506, or Mayflower Congregational Church 2345 Robinson Rd. 49506.
