Marilyn June Russell, age 73, of Ada, passed away into the arms of Jesus at home on Saturday, October 4, 2025. Born in Hastings, Michigan on June 25, 1952, she was the daughter of Corneal and Mary (Tanis) Mingerink. Raised in Middleville, Michigan, Marilyn grew up alongside her siblings working side-by-side on the family farm. She was a 1970 graduate of Thornapple Kellogg High School and in 1972, Davenport College. In 1973, Marilyn married James Russell, sharing the best years of their lives together, and they especially enjoyed their love of fishing. They were faithful members of Keystone Church, and aside from her faith and spending time with family and friends, nothing brought Marilyn greater joy than her love of bunny rabbits and spending time in her garden. Crocheting was another longtime passion for which she so enjoyed. Marilyn is lovingly survived by her husband, Jim; sister, Carolyn (Doug) Billings of DeWitt, Michigan; brother, Ken (Sally) Mingerink of Placida, Florida; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and by five of her siblings. A service to celebrate Marilyn’s life will take place Thursday, October 9, 2025, 1:00 PM at the Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 4291 Cascade Rd. SE, Grand Rapids, Michigan 49546 where friends may visit with her family for one hour prior to the service. Memorials in memory of Marilyn may be directed to Keystone Community Church or the Humane Society of West Michigan.
