Mary Jean (Bowen) Wessely

Mary Jean Wessely age 66, of Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully on Nov. 3, 2021 surrounded by her family.  She was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Regina Bowen, siblings, Bud Bowen, Barb Eastman and Jack Bowen, her parent in laws Joseph and Kathryn Wessely.  Mary Jean is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, John, brother Joseph (Gloria) Bowen, her in laws; Judy Bowen, Kathleen Bowen, Margo Huver, Al Kowalczyk, Carol Hentschel, Mark (Gloria) Wessely and many nieces, nephews and special friend Sister Monica Kostielney R.S.M.

Mary Jean graduated from Mount Mercy Academy and Gemological Institute of America.  She worked at Andrews Jewelers for many years and then was owner and operator of Benedict Jewelers where she loved her customers as much as her work.

The Mass of Christian Burial will held on Tuesday Nov 9th 11am at SS. Peter & Paul Parish 520 Myrtle St NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49504 with Msgr Louis Stasker celebrant.  The family will greet friends on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm at the Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Home with a rosary service at 7pm, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday from 10 to 11am.
