Merry Ellen Bass

On October 28, 2021, Merry Ellen Bass (age 82) of Grand Rapids, Michigan, ended her courageous battle with Alzheimer’s and met her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Merry Ellen was a patient escort at Butterworth Hospital for many years, a dedicated homemaker and served faithfully at Oakview Community Church for more than 60 years.

Merry is preceded in death by her parents Bob & Ella Hoover and her husband of 64 years, Wayne Bass. She is survived by her sisters Carole (Joe) VanderVeen, Janet (Jim) Postma, sister-in-law Carol (Russ) Bass, and children Mike, Bob (Lynne), and Cathy (Jim) Meilstrup, as well as grandchildren Renee (Nich) Rowan, Carrie (Trevor) Manning, Ryan and Adam Meilstrup, Isaiah Bass, and great grandsons Hudson and Trey Manning and Camden Rowan.

Visitation will be held at the Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Home from 10am-12pm on Saturday, November 6, with a funeral service immediately following.
