Michael Keyes

Michael Dennis Keyes Sr. of Grand Rapids, Michigan passed away unexpectedly on August 20th, 2021 at the age of 80 with his loving son Michael by his side.

Mike was born in Kalamazoo on August 6th, 1941, to Max and Myrtle (Valentine) Keyes. He attended Western Michigan University and continued onto a long career in the insurance business. His best days, though, were spent on the golf course, fly fishing, working in his garden or fixing (or trying to fix!) just about anything.

Mike was a son, a loyal brother, a favorite uncle.  But, Mike's proudest titles were that of Dad and Papa. His 4 children and 10 grandchildren were his greatest joy in life. Papa Keyes could often be found on the sidelines of a hockey, lacrosse or baseball game or in the audience of one of his granddaughters dance or theater performances.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents and his two sisters, Linda Dykehouse and Patricia Keyes. He is survived by his children, Michael (Theresa) Keyes Jr., Matthew (Shari) Keyes, Cameron (Shannon) Keyes and Elizabeth (Christopher) Morris; former wife Katherine Stern; his 10 loving grandchildren, Mason and Morgan Keyes; Emery Keyes; Jeffrey, Ryan and Colin Keyes; and Taylor, Benjamin, Max and Avery Morris; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service for Mike will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Michigan Trout Unlimited.
