Molly Rasmussen, age 16, passed away unexpectedly in a drowning accident on June 2, 2020. Molly was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on December 29, 2003. She would have been a junior at Forest Hills Eastern High School.
Molly was a shining bright light, with an unbelievable smile. She was involved in so many activities over the years including volleyball, cheer, softball, Girls on the Run, choir and most recently cross country. Molly was very social and knew many young people from all over. Her favorite things to do were to hang with her friends. She loved to lay in the sun and her favorite place was Grand Haven.
Molly leaves behind her parents Mark and Cindi and 18 year old brother Sam. She was preceded in death by her grandmother Joan Medendorp. Also surviving is her grandfather Larry Medendorp (Gun Lake) and John and Carol Rasmussen (Greenville) as well as several Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
Molly was diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of 7. Up until the last few years it was relatively controlled with medications, but then came back with a vengeance. She spent lots of time at the University of Michigan trying to find ways to keep the epilepsy under control. The most amazing thing about Molly was that she continued to keep a positive attitude through all of her trials and tribulations. She was definitely a WARRIOR. She was adamant that even through all her seizures she wanted to live a normal teenage life.
Celebration of Life arrangements are pending. For those who wish memorials please consider a donation to the Epilepsy Foundation.
We will all miss her beautiful smile and her bigger than life personality. Fly high Molly Raz.
