Patricia Clarisey Hoff, age 91, of East Grand Rapids passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, March 3, 2024. The daughter of William and Gertrude (McPherson) Clarisey, Patricia was born on July 13, 1932, in Petoskey, Michigan. A 1950 graduate of Ottawa Hills High School, Patricia went on to further her education at Michigan State University where she was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority and received her B.A. in education. She was a school teacher with Grand Rapids Public Schools, having taught at Alger School.
On December 28, 1957, Patricia married Bryson Hoff, settling in California, and returning to Grand Rapids in 1970 to raise their family. Active in her community, she was a member of the Junior League, the John T. Hodgen Guild, Grace Church Guild, and served on the boards of Project Rehab and the Dwelling Place. In her free time, Patricia enjoyed playing Bridge, golfing, reading and for many years she was a devoted member of Grace Episcopal Church. She was also quite active well into her later years with her love of yoga and exercise.
Patricia is survived by her husband, Bryson; daughter, Lisa (Dan) Bartlett and son, John (Lindel) Hoff, both of Grand Rapids; grandchildren: Lindsay (Patrick) Pantelis of Chicago, IL, Ross (Erin) Bartlett of Grand Rapids, Jared Hoff of Steamboat Springs, CO, Emma Hoff of Chicago, IL, and Lydia Hoff of Denver, CO; great-grandchildren: Wynsten Bartlett and Chandler Bartlett of Grand Rapids, and Rowan Pantelis of Chicago, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Thomas H. Clarisey of South Bend, IN and by her sister, Barbara Vander Hyde of Grand Rapids.
A service to celebrate Patricia’s life will be held on Friday, May 31, 2024, 11:00 am, at Grace Episcopal Church, 1815 Hall St. SE, Grand Rapids, MI 49506. For those who wish, memorials in her memory may be directed to the Lewy Body Dementia Association (lbda.org).
