Phyllis Joan (Kayser) Crooks, age 88, of Sand Lake, Michigan, passed away on Friday, April 8, 2022.
Our loving wife, and mother, Phyllis, was born on August 5, 1933, to the late Richard and Velma Kayser in Grand Rapids, MI. She graduated from Ottawa Hills High School in 1951.
Richard and Phyllis met in high school, and they wed on March 15, 1952, going on to have two children. Phyllis enjoyed many years volunteering as a member of the Blodgett Hospital Guild. She loved bird watching and gardening. Phyllis was always a joy to converse with. She was so positive and happy. You were guaranteed some laughs every time you visited with her, even during her last days.
Phyllis was predeceased by her parents, brothers Robert Kayser, Doug Kayser and sister Marianne (Richard) Bentz. She will be greatly missed by her husband and two children, Debra (Mike) Grimminck of Grandville, Michigan, and son Craig (Mary Helen) Crooks of Ada, Michigan, along with grandchildren, Joe Grimminck, Jessica (Donald Walker) Grimminck, John Grimminck, Kristina (Patrick) Johnson, Ali Day, Addison Crooks (Jordan Fountain), Alana (Justin Spangenberg) Crooks and Anna (Logan Anderson) Crooks; great grandchildren Annabelle, Caleb, Silas, Claudia, Emily, Erin, Ethan, Jaden, Mason, Harlow, Jevy, Poppy and Lavender; as well as many wonderful nieces, nephews and special caregivers Kathy and Beth.
A funeral service will be held at the Metcalf & Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 4291 Cascade Rd SE, Grand Rapids, MI, on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at 11am. A private graveside service will be conducted at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10am to 10:45am. The family requests in lieu of flowers, please send donations to Kindred Hospice of Grand Rapids, Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park, Humane Society of West Michigan or to your favorite charity in her name.
