Phyllis Grund

Phyllis Ruth Grund, age 100, passed away on November 9, 2023. Phyllis was born on September 1, 1923, in Amber Township, Mason County, Michigan to Hans Peter and Mabel (Lyon) Anderson. As a young woman, Phyllis moved to the Detroit area and later to Chicago where she met her future husband, Bruno. She enjoyed a long and successful career as an executive secretary for various organizations. Long before computers, Phyllis could take shorthand dictation as fast as someone could talk. She continued to work part-time until she was 90. She and Bruno loved to play golf, a pastime she continued to enjoy into her early 90s. She spent many wonderful vacations in the Ludington area with extended family. She was an avid reader and shopper. She was always dressed “to the nines”. Phyllis was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed. Phyllis is survived by her son, Gary (Linda) Grund; daughter-in-law, Patricia Grund; sister, Marge (Andy) Knudsen; grandchildren: Shannon (Tim) Cameron, Laurie (Dan McKay) Grund, Sara (Jim) Edinger, Julia Grund, Dan (Heather) Grund; great-grandchildren: Claire, Toby, Paige, Molly, Keegan, Xandria and many other loving family members. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruno; stepson, Bruno Carl Grund; granddaughter, Carole VanDoorn; sister, Arlene, and by her brothers, Frank, Neil, Ray, Earl, and Carl. Our family will gather privately to honor Phyllis.
