Raymond Wagemaker

Raymond Ogden Wagemaker, age 75 of Grand Rapids, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday October 16, 2023.  He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on November 12, 1947, the son of Raymond and Inez (Richardson) Wagemaker. He graduated from Grand Rapids Central High School, class of 1966, where he set the school record in the Pole Vault. He graduated GRJC and studied at University of Colorado. Raymond joined the US Naval Reserve during the late 60’s, then following his service to his country, he worked for Champion Home Builders as Sales Mgr. in Henry, Tennessee. He returned to Grand Rapids and worked in a variety of jobs including real estate, construction, insurance, and painting until retirement. Earlier in life he was an avid surfer, skier, motorcycle racer and later a fisherman. 

Raymond is survived by his younger brother David Wagemaker of Rockford, Michigan, a Stepbrother and Stepsisters, and many cousins.  A memorial service will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Calvary Church Chapel, 707 East Beltline NE Grand Rapids, MI 49525 with Pastor Josh Warren officiating. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to Saint Joseph Indian School, a favorite of Raymond's, 1301 N. Main St., Chamberlain, SD 57325.  An interment service was previously held at Oakhill Cemetery with family.
