Rickey Leo Olson fell asleep in the Lord on March 12, 2022. He was born on January 14, 1949 in Manton Michigan to his parents Albert and Alice Olson on their living room sofa. He was a proud Marine Corps Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was honored as a Purple Heart recipient and was held with the utmost respect as a soldier and a man from his Marine Corps brothers.
He lived in Grand Rapids Michigan and raised a family of 6 children and 20 grandchildren through his years. He retired from GM and enjoyed his retirement playing golf, attending his grandchildren's events and wintering in Florida. Rick lived a full life. He loved God, his wife Marian, his siblings, children, and grandchildren fiercely and they all loved him in the same fashion.
He is Survived by his wife Marian Olson; Children: Rickey Leo Jr (Emily) Olson, Stacey Bauer, Annie (Patrick) VanSandlyne, Chadd Olson, Benjamin Olson, Amanda (Joey) Detmer, PJ (Jennifer) Morgrette, Todd Morgrette; Siblings: Roger (Marcia) Olson, Rocky (Kate) Olson, Carol (Bob) DeWitt, Tammy (Scott) Bravata and Ricky (Holly) Marshall And 20 Grandchildren, Gresham, Cecelia, Sophia, Joseph, Joshua, Aidia, Dahlia, Innes, Aksel, Hayddon, Patience, Levi, Bently, Aillah, Millie Mae, Adelie, Brayden, Maddie, Austin, Ellie.
Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Wednesday March 23rd at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, 2250 East Paris Ave Grand Rapids, MI 49546. The family will greet relatives and friends for a visitation on Tuesday at the Metcalf and Jonkhoff Funeral Home from 5-8pm with a Trisagion Service at 7pm and also at the church on Wednesday from 10-11am. Interment will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. The funeral service will be live streamed at https://stnicholasgr.com/watch-live/.
