Robert Dow Steketee of Grand Rapids, passed away Saturday June 20, 2020 at the age of 91. He was born on August 7, 1928 in East Grand Rapids to the late Eugene and Nella Steketee. He will be lovingly remembered by Peggy, his wife of 68 years; children, Rob (Pam), William (Susan), Margie (David) Chism; 8 grandchildren, Bob, David (Jessica), Alexandra (Jeremy), Patrick, Jack (Grace), Mairead, Matthew and Maeve; and 6 great grandchildren, Cameron, Finn, Winn, Wren, Emma, and Witt. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Daniel and Richard.
Bob attended East Grand Rapids High School and received his Bachelor’s degree from Amherst College. Following college, he served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He joined Paul Steketee & Sons department store in 1952, where he spent his career, and retired as Chairman of the Board in 1991.
Bob had passions for hunting, fishing, tennis, squash, golf, Kinne Creek, Castle Park, his brothers-in-law, and most of all his family.
A family service of remembrance was held on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at Graceland Memorial Park and Mausoleum.
