Roger Clark Obituary

Roger Montgomery Clark was born on June 22, 1938 to Margaret Elizabeth Isenberg and Ernest Montgomery Clark in Honolulu, Hawaii . He died on November 1, 2025 in Grand Rapids, Michigan at the age of 87. 

Roger is survived by the love of his life for almost 64 years, Carolyn Lee Ainsley Clark, and children, Terri Miller (Reid), Kenneth Clark (Lynn), Daniel Clark (Megan) and seven grandchildren, Amanda Mcmillon (Chase), Brett Miller (Melissa), Craig Miller (Victoria), Meredith Clark, Sarah Clark, Jackson Clark, and Ainsley Clark; and seven great-grandchildren, Wyatt Miller, Viviana Miller, Grayson Miller, Charlotte Mcmillon, Sasha Miller, Victor Miller, and Macie Mcmillon; and by his brother, Colin Clark (Leslie) of Nelson, BC.

Roger graduated from Menlo Atherton High School, Atherton, CA in 1955; The University of Utah, Sigma Phi Epsilon, Salt Lake City, UT in 1959, on an NROTC scholarship. He served in the US Navy from 1959-1964 as an A-4 carrier pilot with over 200 landings on the USS Oriskany. He graduated from Duke Law School, Durham, NC in 1967.

Moving to Grand Rapids as a family of five in 1967, Roger practiced law for almost 40 years at Warner, Norcross and Judd. Roger retired to spend winters in Florida and summers in Michigan where he enjoyed his growing family, especially the great-grandchildren. Roger was an ACBL Life Master in bridge, and an accomplished fly fisherman, duck and grouse hunter, competitive golfer, and voracious reader.

Known as Fred Fotog by his children and their friends when he was a photographer, Doc Rog when he was doing first aid, and Joe Ag as an expert vegetable gardener. He was also The Kitchen Fairy for his early morning breakfast feats on golf and ski trips with friends or family.

He was a member of Kent Country Club, The Yankanuck Club, Mayflower Church, Harbour Ridge Yacht and Country Club, Hawaiian Children’s Mission Society (4th generation), a former member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, The Indian Club, The Potawatomi Club and the National Ski Patrol. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date in 2026. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Clark Retirement Community (Veterans Honor Gardens), the Salvation Army or a charity of one’s choice
