Ronald F. Mayville, age 90, of Grand Rapids, MI, passed away peacefully at home on January 22, 2025, surrounded by his family. Ronald was born in Detroit, MI to Lloyd and Josephine Mayville on December 22, 1934. He graduated from St. Anne’s High School in Detroit and then went on to Wayne State University. He moved to Grand Rapids in 1983 where he worked in the insurance industry. Ron also worked for Hudon’s/Macy’s prior to retirement. Ron enjoyed volunteering for Frederick Meijer Gardens and Van Andel Arena. He also was a member of the Traverse City Elk Club and the Lions Club of Grand Rapids. He was a member of St. Robert of Newminster Parish. On February 7,1959 he married Therese Comeau and they were married for 43 wonderful years. Ron is survived by two daughters, Michele (Tim) Wolf and Anne (Daniel) Merring; three grandsons, Ian (Allison) Wolf, Ryan (Lauren) Merring, and Nicholas Merring; three great-grandchildren, Eli, Emmet, and Everly; sister-in-law Yvonne Lessard, brother-in-law, Jerry Goodgine; several nieces and nephews; many special friends; and his beloved dogs Pippi and Kali. He was preceded in death by his wife, Therese; parents, Lloyd Sr. and Josephine; siblings, infant brother Ralph, sister Lorraine (Schwartz), brother Lloyd Jr., and sister Jacqueline (Goodgine).
A graveside service will take place in the spring at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. A special thanks to the caregivers at Careology Home Health, Emmanuel Hospice and good friend John Hubscher, who took wonderful care of Ron. In lieu of flowers, a contribution can be made to Careology Home Health, Emmanuel Hospice, or the Kent County Animal Shelter in Ron’s name.
