Russell Wilson Weigle

Russell Wilson Weigle age 93, passed away peacefully on February 22nd, 2021 at Porter Hills in Grand Rapids, MI. Russell was born on December 14th, 1927 in East Grand Rapids to Russell Jacob and Aileen Weigle. He was predeceased by his wife of 42 years Jane Ruble Weigle. 

Russ will be lovingly remembered by his sister, Mary Ellen Gunby of Tulsa, OK, his son Bill (Cheryl) Weigle of Manchester, NH, his daughters Elizabeth (Michael) Mehr of South Lyon, MI, and Mary (Leif) Jensen of Sugar Land, TX. 

Russ was extremely proud of his eight grandchildren: Jeff (Brittany) Weigle, Alyson Weigle, Jacob Mehr, Samuel Mehr, Jessica Mehr, Andrew Jensen, Joseph Jensen, and Kathryn Jensen. 

After retiring from Steelcase in 1996, Russ enjoyed spending time volunteering at the Greater Grand Rapids Golf Open, working as a conductor for the Coopersville & Marne Railroad. He served on the vestry at Grace Episcopal Church and later in life became a member of St Mark’s Episcopal Church. Russ continued his involvement with the Masonic Lodge being a 70 year member of York Lodge #410 and a proud 33rd degree Mason. He also enjoyed traveling with his second wife, Joan Weigle, who passed away in August of 2020. 

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to Porter Hills Benevolent Fund or Spectrum Health Hospice.
